The centuries old mother of pearl inlay techniques can be found in numerous furniture pieces throughout the middle east. The handmade craftsmanship of these pieces is significant to the middle eastern culture with a focus on technique and form. What is a lengthy and time consuming process that comes at an expensive cost is highly desirable, however, not accessible to everyone.
This piece titled ‘Zaytun’ is crafted by mimicking traditional techniques in a contemporary form. The construction process includes modern technology to replicate accurate precision in form and patterns. It also reduces the length of construction time compared to traditional methods of inlay pieces.
